If proper maintenance was done, then maybe it would go this long.

Normal stuff, proper tune, oil changes, timing belt etc. make sure its not sucking in dirt, good air filter and no vacuum leaks. Don't race it and beat it, though others here will disagree. Its a luxury car not a performance car.
Don't do stupid mods, if the factory didn't do it they had a good reason not to. The people that designed and built these cars were on top of their game, there aren't too many things to do to improve on it. Though I can think of a few.
