With all the scary stuff about air bags, is there a way to rid them of the deploy thingy, and still have the rest of the unit for cosmetics and not talking about just disconnecting it electrically. For Gen 1.
Also has anyone ever had one deploy for a reason or for no reason at all? Lots of info on the net about no reason deploys on some makes of cars.

I don't think there is a thing about it in the manual, also there is no list of what cars have that certain manufacture of air bag in them. What you need to do is do a search for air bag injuries. Because if you or someone you care about is ever hurt in anyway by one then you will become "remotely interested" in the topic. I read one article about a young woman that bled to death from the air bag shrapnel in a parking lot accident going like really slow. I really don't understand why something like that is nothing to worry about? It really all depends on what the material the deploy mechanism is made from and what kind of corrosion that the charge materials cause to it, especially in a 25 year old or so car. Also I read a few articles about people just driving down the freeway and the airbag just goes off. I guess its one of those deals where it just has to happen to someone, since not many people seem to ever plan ahead.
