That button on your key is used for the remote keyless entry. (lock/unlock doors and turn on the security system)

If this is a used key from another car that was cut for your car it won't work.

If it is the original key for the car then check to make sure you have remote keyless entry turned on. To the left of the steering wheel you will see the switch.

If the lock/unlock works but you don't hear the beep(s) then check under the dash on the same side. There is a dial you can use to turn the beep volume up, down or off.

Hey guys,
where/what does this dial look like? I have always wondered why my car
does not have some sort of chirp or light flash for the keyless entry. Please
help me out as this has concerned me for the last 18 months that I have
owned the car
thanks

It's under the dash to the left of the steering wheel. get down like you are looking for the fuse box and look up you will see it. u can turn the dial for volume or you will here it click to turn it off.

to the right of the dial you will see the plug to run diagnostics. you can't miss it.

Is this a feature just on the 93-94 LS400's? I can seem to find a dial on my 92.

I hope not, I have a 92 myself also. I will take a look in the morning and let
you know if I can find it in my car.

On my '95, there is only a small black button that turns on/off the beep, but I'm not aware of being able to set the volume.

I know for a fact 1990-1992 models didn't have a beep or flashing lights.

I'm also pretty positive 1993-1994 didn't either. I think the beep was added in 1995. (maybe 94)

As far as I've read and been told by the dealer, 1990-1992 had a different kind of lock system than 1993+.

My 93 LS has it. 1 beep to lock, 2 to unlock with volume control under the dash.

Unfortunatly you guys are correct. When I got under the dash of my car this
morning I could not find the switch/dial. Oh well, I am probably putting remote
start in the car in a few weeks, so that will have an alarm that chirps. Thanks
for your help anyways.

I can't imagine why my 93 has it and your 94 doesn't, but if it ain't there it ain't there.
