Rob you and I are similar. Only I don't really want Black or White paint. And not fussy about the year well up to 92. Factory chrome wheels is the easy deal.
No not insane, just fussy like me.

Default June 1989 Build Date has Arrived

This may not be everything that you want from an early build date LS, but this one just listed on Ebay is an 06/89 build that is also located in Florida. I wonder if it's one of the hand built cars, VIN #718.

The link didn't work. I'm not really looking for an early build like you are. I am looking for a specific color and option group though.

Okay I found it.

What is with the crap in the interior? The thing by the radio, and under the ignition switch? And odd colored floor mats. At least it has a few options, but missing the 2 most important ones. Theres a good car for you Rob.

Looked again, I guess the mats kinda match but usually they are the carpet color. The battery box is gone and the cover in front of the battery. At least they show the front door window stickers, I wonder about the rest of the glass.

There is a pad that was stuck to the top of the dash, along with that little plastic handle by the radio. I believe a GPS or a radar detector was set up there at some point in time. This could explain the little controller under the ignition switch, as well.

The leather is in good condition overall, especially for its age. 06/89 production models are pretty hard to come by now, so it's going to be pretty hard to get exactly what you want.

holy ****! 6/89 car. never seen one of those!!!!!!!! this one was part of the first test batch! yes, this would be the one for sure, but that's way way way out of my price range
but yeah, this would be the one if it was $2,000-$3,500 range. id be calling in sick at work and driving there now, cash in hand.

Maybe you could try to make a deal with them? I wonder if they'd go down to $5,000

doubt it. however I am realizing im probably going to have to pay a premium for a time capsule one like this. looks almost identical to the one ive seen show up at the service tunnel here at my dealership. could be. im going to pull the vin and find out.

I don't mind a mild project as long as its mechanically sound. faded paint is fine as long as the body is straight and rust free, good glass, working features, dash without warpage and earthquakes. seats can be **** cause I can get them redone or find good ones in the u-pull and pick.
god I feel like im talking about getting a 1950s chevy...

Heh, I really wish there were more parts yards up here.

In a sense, it really is like getting a 1950's Chevy in the 1980's. The Lexus is a classic car today, just as the Chevy was back then (and still is now).

yep. at this point pretty much. its easy to forget just how old these cars really are now. I remember what 27 year old cars looked like back in the 90s and they were legit true classic cars, and the few I saw were very tired. same thing today with the early LS400s!!

In the old days the early sixty's a 13 year old car was a rusted out mess, I know been there done that. But I did only pay $25 for it, and put in dads name at the time.

The window sticker shows a $113 option for custom carpet floor mats. Maybe the owner wanted a different color than the carpet.

I didn't know that metallic blue was rare. My car is not particularly early, 2/90, prod # 020714, but it has every option i have ever heard of on these. i have the original chrome turbines covered in nasty argent spray paint, taillights, turn signals.
TRAC/Nac/air/sunroof/car phone/ 6 disk / key-less entry (no key-less keys though)/heated seats/
Cobalt blue metallic/blue leather interior
Currently has a non-air cluster in it, but i have the air cluster for future rebuild. replaced all the engine plastic that was missing when i got it, fixed the no recline front seats, replaced the coolant tank, one teeny rip on the drivers side seat, 2 cracks in the dash less than a quarter in size each, all panels vin-match to the car, fresh llumar tint 5% doors and back, 20% windshield to hopefully prevent the dash from deteriorating any more. I must have got really lucky with finding this one. All that's left to fix is a little bodywork and a coolant temp sensor causing a high idle. It /may/ be for sale put back to stock, I have only owned it for a year and put 3000 miles on it, its my weekend car haha. I wanna find a cloth interior cobalt blue/black with no sunroof if i sell this one though.
sorry for bad filter, i have no unedited pics of it at the moment.

That looks more like midnight indigo pearl 8J5 except only on 93 to 94. Whats the paint code? Cobalt blue metallic is a fairly light blue maybe its the lighting there as that looks too dark. Paint code 172.
