Changed an Oxygen Sensor - car running much better
I was checking the fuel trims and the long term trims were running opposite.
Both bank 1 and bank 2 would idle at 10% but when I stepped on the bug under the gas pedal, bank 1 would go low (5%) and bank 2 would be climbing further up (15%).
There was no Diagnostic Code and the Check Engine Light wasn't on but since Amazon was delivering the Denso 234-4169 to my door for $50, I bought it and replaced bank 2. Bank 1 was replaced 2009.
Now bank 2 idles at 5% (bank 1 is still at 10%).
The car runs much better, has more power, the pinging sound while accelerating is gone. No smell of exhaust and no fumes in the cabin.
I am considering replacing Bank 1 also but its gone up to $80. Might be worth it but I will think about it for a couple of days. I want to see if it makes a difference in the gas consumption.
The sensor referred to is the Heated Oxygen Sensor 1/Upstream/pre-cat. Bank 1 on my Canadian LS400 96 is on the driver's side.

Thank you.
I got mine from the Canadian site. US sites tend to pile on import fees and then there's the exchange rate. so about CAD $64 which is still less than half the dealer price and about the same as the Canadian price now.
Its too late to be buying stuff off the internet.
The old sensor seems to be covered up with ashes.
