Default 99 LS CD Changer (Pioneer) issue NEED HELP

Does the Pioneer CD changer have an internal pre amp? My audio signal is present, when it loads a CD, but very faint and distorted. Fuzzy if you will... Sometimes the CD doesn't load, or at least the head unit display doesn't show it as loaded.

The radio signal is fine so I'm fairly confident the problem is isolated to the changer. I've tried lens cleaners and blowing low psi compressed air into the cartridge bay.

Is this a common issue???

amp is located under the pass side seat. make sure nothing was spilled onto it or any other obstructions.

It has two small signal amplifiers inside right after the DA converter. Those amplifiers have differential outputs.

I know some Americans respond writing some unexpected answers but don't blame them because they are trying to help you as much as they can.

Dealers only replace the unit. Pioneer use to replace the board but I don't know they do still so. Those amplifiers are usually not serviceable, but it all depends on how much you can do. As a guy who used to work at electronics industry, I fix almost everything except human beings like these below.

Thanks again Yam!

I have a guy who is qualified if parts are common and available. I guess I should just pull the unit and let him get it on his bench....

A used unit starts at $100 but that's a crap shoot re longevity.

I believe the CD changer does have preamp signal since some guys here did tap in the wire then plug in an ipod. Correct me if I'm wrong.
