Default Cover

It is damn sure not an aid for cooling anything important for your 1uzfe engine. Can it possibly aid airflow in a high-speed highway situation?? Well ,you may get me to buy that , but at normal hwy. speeds the increased gas mileage you may see from having it in place is going to take awhile to payoff at $140.00 dollars.

Bought mine ( 2nd owner) with it off , & would not consider replacing it. You are watching way too much Nascar if you think it is affecting your handling.

Whether one may perceive an aerodynamic benefit and/or to protect the components that are placed low in the engine bay; ultimately it will be the owners choice to have the cover or not. If it were damaged on mine, I'd replace it. As they say, YMMV.

Default Kamtra I'm curious...

Why are you not using the undercarriage cover??? I really doubt I need it in Arizona. There are virtually no adverse weather conditions. I just think it makes the car look cleaner. My car looks new underneath .

Default All Lexus parts are overpriced

It's one of the benefits you get from being a lexus owner. I was having problems with my traction actuator. The dealer quoted me $2200 plus labor. I found it at car-part. com for $150.00.

you know what they say.. shi** happens

besides, mechanics dont put on all the bolts sometimes, or lose the right ones and use different bolts and then it becomes flimsy.. like mine....

Reasons for the undertray to come loose:

1. Depends on where you live, but eventually rocks and other road debris will hit this thing and crack the plastic

2. Mechanic forgot to replace all bolts.

3. You suddenly forgot that you have a steep driveway and smacked the hell out of you car

4. Depending on the age of the car specially if its 14 years old!

I found out that mine was partly hanging down so I just zip tied the piece back up! When I find the time Im going to find a piece of aluminum sheet and cut it to size and replace the plastic with the aluminum. Could be a nice project, will see.

I took mine off when i changed the timing belt. I still plan on changing the PS pump too so I just left it off. I'm always messing around under the hood. When you drop a socket or a bolt, it falls down and slides down that plastic thing and rests under the engine. It's easier to get if it just falls on the ground.

I just changed my oil last night and had to take the cover off to do so. I can see why you leave yours off kamtra. It takes time to get that piece off, there are more than 10 bolts holding it on! Even though it does take some time to get off it also serves a purpose as many have already mentioned, mine will stay on.

Lost mine, do not know how. Went to dealer quoted me $150 but also told me it is not necessary and would not hurt without it.
