Red face Plastic cover location.

Hello all. I just recently purchased an LS400 and am trying to figure out where this cover goes. When I bought the car, all sorts of covers were in the trunk. I was able to figure out where all but this one goes. My guess on this one would be a cover for the spare. In the trunk there is also a jack. Normally these items, i'm sure has a specific spot as to where they go. If you can send a pic of this installed on your car that would be most helpful. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to Club Lexus.

That looks like the lower engine cover.

This cover actually covers up where the engine and tranny join together. The 2 tabs that stick out bolt up near the catalytic converters. The front 6 holes bolt up on the front cross member if i remember correctly. The engine under cover goes on after this cover.

No problem, I just put that cover back on after having it off for a long time when my crank/cam seals were leaking and making a mess of everything under the car. Now that everything is bone dry I'm slowly putting everything back. I had to jack the car up and really inspect to see how it bolted up and which bolts to use.

I don't have a pic of under the car but if you just line it up with the front cross member it becomes fairly obvious. Here's a pdf to give you an ideal.

Funny, my LS is missing this cover so I've been looking for a replacement from craigslist parts cars. It's about $150 for a new one, which seems kinda steep for a piece of plastic.

The engine under cover for ours lists at $192.42, with the CL meet discount was priced at $138.82. Plastic and rubber parts for anything on this car is $$. One of the seat belt guides for the rear seat was $30.
