I've always had an inkling that there are some slight differences in the engine and transmission between the years.

Especially from 1990-2-1993-4.

I'd bet there's a different setup on the differential for those years due to the larger tire size.

Uh...why did this post post backwards?

it's above lextremes..

Default Interesting 1UZFE Data

I can not copy and paste it from the CD i got from ebay. Anyway, the 1990 LS400 is 253 cu in. and 1991 is only 244 cu in. Interesting data.

Final Drive ratio is 3.62:1

David, I am nearly certain that is a misprint. ALL 400 series cars are 4.0 liters = 244cid, not 4.1 liters (253cid)

John,

I dont think so, the CD (Mitchell On-Demand) stated specifically that 90 and 91 have different engine size. I was puzzled too.

David, it is definitely a misprint. I have the Mitchell On Demand CD myself. I found the section you are refering to and it states under displacement

(1) 153.0 Cu. In. (4.0L) for 1990 models
(2) 244.0 Cu. In. (4.0L) for 1991 models

Obviously, 153.0 cid is NOT 4.0L. So, the 153 cannot be correct. Furthermore it lists identical specs for bore and stroke at 87.5mm and 82.5mm respectively. This is of course 3967cc which rounds up to 4.0 liters or 242.1 cubic inches. So, the 244.0 is not accurate either. If you convert 4000cc (4.0L) to CID you get 244.1... sloppy but true. BTW, 153.0 cid = 2.50 liters.
