looks like a waste of good money, unless you have plenty.... where is he going to use what he gains from the alteration? I guess self satisfaction .. to each his own... being over 80 changes your views.. go for it..

When dad had his '63 Fairlane I thought about making some updates. The hot rod guys I talked to said that $40K was typical basics. Depending on car had varying values and for less demand cars, it was a loss all around. They did it for the project-fun aspect. When I reaccessed dad's car, I'd sooner buy a modern car for comforts and safety over being flashy.

For mine, one hit with a small car today would beer can the Celica and more so with those 70's era ones. That is one other reason why I've hesitated so long on mine. The desire to drive it persists but safety has more concerns. It sits in the garage. Can't sell it just yet and I've had many generous offers over the years.

He would have liked to see his car updated. When we talked about the cost he was Sold it to a member here who had mentioned he'd use it for a SEMA car at some point.
