Poll on Wheel Job
Hi!
2000 LS400 W 163,000 km. Gold on Ivory. Runs like a champ. Treated well.
I got a quote to repair the curb rash on my wheels.
They are stock
They said they will powder coat them too.
$300 CDN
Question is should I
A) Do it but leave it the stock finish/colour
B) Do it but make it a matching gold (see attached pic)
C) Do it but make it black (see attached pic)
D) Don't Do it
Thanks everyone!

Note that I bought her (yes it's a she) in December and driven her about 1,000km/month.
The wheels had a lot of curb rash and peeling finish when I bought her.
These photos are before I tinted my windows.
..also note that I do not have the $$ or desire to get new wheels especially different size. I already have two sets of tires....and I am not lowering her.
Thank you all!

Powder coating black would look alright, the gold is to blatant though IMHO, I would steer well clear of that. I wonder if they could powder coat and match the color to the darker lower cladding rather than the lighter upper body. That might just look classy. Or maybe a gun metal. Any which way I vote for a flat or matte finish but not glossy.

Don't touch these wheels. At all..... Get rid of them ASAP and get yourself a step up from these in what you, would consider that to be. Btw, absolutely not gold, I will find you, where you live, and will greet you at your door when you answer with multiple hugs. Multiple.....

Good points all.
So I tested Plastidip (5-6 layers) on a random few pieces of metal...with and without rust on them to cover all areas and it looks like the results are good (removal was easy too) so I will Plastidip my car gloss black.
Therefore I may plastidip my wheels black too. that way if I don't like it I can remove it.
Thoughts?

will look like crap imho....
platidip is a great way of making a rough car a little nicer or an amazing way of making a nice car look terrible. Might as well use a roller and fence paint.
sounds like you are just looking to do stuff for the sake of doing stuff, and without a lot of forethought for an end game.
but that's just my 2¢.

Dude I once tried the dupli color rattle can wheel paint and yielded okay results man, your possibilities with rattle can are limited for sure, but if your good, you can def. Make the best out of them.... It didn't match my taste and I ended up stripping and refinishing the wheels myself, but for what it was, people seemed to think they looked okay man. Take a look, may consider this stuff!
First photo was prior to painting obviously, 2nd was dupli color.

Sorry. Can't upload multiple photo's for some reason over the phone, anyhow, and this was dupli colored... Rattle can, primer, base, cleared, sanded and polished. Wasn't the best but wasn't bad! I stripped eventually but still...

Do not plasti-dip anything. Way more effort than its worth, looks like crap, crappy finish, did I mention looks like crap, I didnt want to leave that part out
Your car looks pretty nice, seriously I would leave it alone. Get the wheels replaced or tastefully redone and enjoy the ride! There is a great deal of value in a car that needs nothing more to be sweet.
If you MUST drop some coin on it maybe some tasteful conservative mods to the audio system. I had to get into my 40s before I learned how to leave stuff alone and simply enjoy while keeping my $$.
Enjoy!!
