Default Bad light from aftermarket headlights

Hi!

I bought a pair of these

http://www.ebay.com/itm/281141588451?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT with 75w HID in the foglights and 55w HID Hi/Lo in the headlights

And I must say, the light output is worse then HID converted OEM and I find that quite bizzare..

Does anyone have the same problem, I mean it's not THAT bad but my w124 mercedes with OEM headlights and 55w Hi/Lo HID is MUCH better... :S

aftermarket lights are made of poor quality so the light output is generally not as crisp as OEM. plus these are "crystal" headlights, which were never modeled after any OEM design which went through rigorous testing for ample light output.

adding aftermarket HID bulbs just amplifies these flaws...

The glare will be brutal to oncoming motorists, HID bulbs are a dumpster fire in lamps designed for halogen. Try some Osram nightbreakers or something and I would bet the results will be better and less likely to get you a ticket or a schooling from someone you blinded (that sort of thing does happen around here). I may try HID in my fogs as well but those can be clicked off quick to avoid some of the above mentioned issues.

You can also buy aftermarket projector assemblies to fit in the cases to correctly channel the light making it usable if your dead set on HID.

I think the brand you got were Imotor if I read correctly, I think I read here where someone got the DEPOT brand and were pretty happy with them, I would be interested in how you resolve it.

A projector retrofit is a means to have proper output with HID. HID in a halogen reflector housing is There should be some aftermarket seller in your parts that can offer similar HID systems for headlight modding.

These kits for example:

standard kits are 35W, but they do have 55W kits out there which are brighter. are they better, i don't think so as my eyes fatigue faster, but this is a digression from the topic.

come to think of it, if the OP is running a 75W "kit", it makes me question if they are really running a true HID kit (with ballasts) or simply just replacement bulbs for that "HID" look...

Hey guys, thanks for the answers. I have hade much better results HID converting my previous cars, w210 merc, w124 merc, 1993 silverado, 1966 dodge dart... and so on, putting HID in halogen lights may not be as effective as possible but the simple fact is that there is more light output then regular halogen lights so the HID is crap, night breakers will be better... That's just junk. Junk headlights will no be better with a weaker bulb.

The projector retrofit looks like a good idea, have any of you guys tested them?

Oh and the 75w HID is real xenon... I know the difference
