01 LS430 Hesitation issues
I've had my 01 LS430 a little over a month. 21k on the odo. I've noticed that when the engine is still cold and I give it a little gas, it goes then hesitates, goes then hestitates, etc. It's real jumpy. Also, after warmed up, if I give it alot of gas even while going like 30 mph, it feels like the brakes grab for a few seconds then let go throwing me back into my seat. The VSC shouldn't kick on at those kinds of speeds on dry roads. Could this be a computer issue and does anyone know of any service bulletins regarding this issue?

Same Problem...
I have the latter issue, after warmup, I get delays when stepping on the gas in a passing situation, for example. I have asked the dealers about it and they say it's a VSC issue and they all do it... While I don't agree that "they all do it" is the right anwer, nor does it mean that it's not broken on ALL of them, but that's what I've got so far...

Used to have that same issues
Used to have that same issue with my 02 LS430. I don't like it especially when passing other cars on the freeway Whenever I tried to pass a slow car in front of me, it takes a second or 2 after i hit the gas, to accelerate. Passing a slow car takes practice since by the time you hit the gas and move to the next lane, another car is approaching very close behind you because of the acceleration delay.
Then I change the springs to stiffer and lower springs and it appears that the hesitation is very minimal now. I dont know the connection but it really works. I guess the softer springs make the weight shift too much to the rear at acceleration. I notice it on my friends LS430 as it accelerates, the wheel gap in the front is like a SUV gap but the rear seems like a low rider. Much like when you are driving a water truck with half full tank of water behind you. The shifting weight pull the car back. Just my opinion so don't quote me on this..

I think you guys are experiencing the Drive by wire throttle issue. The 98+ LS don't have the throttle cable to connect between the gas pedal to the throttle body.
Every time you step on the gas pedal(hard), the pedal sensor send the signal to the ECM and the ECM will comunicate with all another ECU in your car. If all the conditions are met, then the ECM will send the signal to the throttle motor to open the throttle. This way you can't side way your LS on the road. All whole process will take less than a second from the time you get on it. I think it's pretty fast to do all these works within a matter of second.
