Not sure I'm reading it right: left the car running for 20 minutes and when you came back it was off and wouldn't start or run?

Out of gas-dead fuel pump from going dry.
Starter dead

What year how many miles?
Does the car crank as in starter works?
Plug in to get codes.

yes i park the car and it was on , did not turn it off i left the a/c on so it can be cold when i got back to the car. not the fuel it was full at the time. 1992, miles stop working on my car about 5 years ago with 175889 it should have around 350.000 or so about now i change the timing belt (water pump and everything in the area) 2 times all this years, spark plugs and cables with coils and caps, and the regular things nothing major

i dont know if it could be related but the e-break light will come on and off when i was driving.

Could you explain this more? What do you mean by e-break light?

huh? if its not cranking then its not turning over. if ur trying to start the car and u don't hear anything and the engine isn't cranking u may have blown a fuse under the hood or a fusible link. do the dash lights come on when u turn the key to the "ON" position?

Ignition coils. My car use to cut off driving down the road and eventually not start. Turn over but never crank. When the driver side went out apparently the car wouldn't crank. Replaced both and it worked. Check to see if you're getting spark. Hope this helps.

i check all fuses and everything is fine including the relay, this was the first thing i check because it happen to me before about 2 years ago and it was the relay. everytime i turn the key it sounds like the something is turning

if the starter doesn't turn, then it sounds like the starter died.

white smoke from the negative battery cable... bad news. Need to replace that cable. Same happened to my dad's 93.. had a new cable made as the dealer price is outrageous. I bet you don't have good grounding from the cable therefore no complete circuit... at least not enough to get power to the starter.

yup like Legender said, sound like you have a bad "restrictive" ground.

Try with jumper cables to hook the negative (- sign) on the battery to a solid non-moving piece of metal on the engine (hook to lift the engine?) and try to crank it. If it start then you found you problem. Leave the positive (+ sign) alone, do not connect the jumper cable on the positive.

Also make sure you battery is charged, bad ground could also mean that the battery wasn't charging properly and now your voltage is to low.

Starter is also a possibility and cause short/over-current when cranking, but in your case this wouldn't have cause the car to stop, but a bad ground yes.

Keep us posted on your findings
