Bad paint job ? ?
I just got my bent fender replaced and repainted by a body shop. while inspecting the paint job it turned out that parts of the fender had paint peeling off. When I tried to inspect it further by trying to stratch it a little with my nail the paint just kept ripping off.
The body shop claims that the paint is fresh and it's cold which is why that happened.
I refuse to believe that. what should I do ? I havent taken delivery of the car and I'm not sure if I'm being cheated of a fair paint job here.
I would appreciate some quick responses since I need to pick up the car.
thanks.

I had my fender done by the dealers body shop I got it back the next day with no problem at all. They are giving you a fast one. This is not normal I wonder if he even used a Lexus factory part or aftermarket.

Was the fender new or used? Was it sanded down correctly? Did they prime it first? If they just painted over old paint on a used fender the paint will not adhere to it causing it to peel. I hope the body shop is not a fly by night one but it sounds like it.
Also did they clear the fender? A good body shop that knows how to spray would have used "Clear Coat" over the paint once it dried. I wouldn't accept the car, the paint should not peel/flake off even if they didn't clear it.

if the paint peeled off very cleanly, then i suspect they didn't prep/prime right. "fresh and cold" is a effin' terrible excuse. uncured/fresh paint does not come off clean the way you described it... I also suspect they don't have a very good paint drying mechanism there.
can you tell us what color it is?
