Default 99LS400 P0161 code ... O2 Sensor , can I replace without new cat?

I'v been having problems with my bank 2 cat for a while now , I changed bank 1 cat last yr and it was costly , now I am having a P0161 code and I'm pretty sure its the side of the bad cat (P0430) bank 2 ... Now Can I change the O2 sensor without changing the cat? and Would magnaflow cat do the job? its the one you have to weld , it doesn't come ready to bolt ... Summer time is on the way , traveling with a bad heat sensors and bad cats is a fire hazard.

You can always change the sensors without changing the cats.... A sensor would be expected to go bad before a cat would...
And I wouldn't replace the cat or the sensor till I tested each to see which one is bad... hate to just throw parts at something guessing if it's going to fix the problem and hoping for the best. Better to diagnose the faulty part and replace it.
