Exclamation Starter or Key...Thats the question

Quick question...how many 98-00 LS400 owners experienced starting issues while using a broken key? I know some of you may have strange response's to this question like "how or why were you driving the car with a broken key?" Seriously, if you remember having this problem I would love to hear about it.

Thanks in advance

My old key was snapped at the plastic base but I never had any starting issues as long as I kept the transponder close.

would be hard to have a starting problem as long as you've got the blade and the remote with the transponder in it.

The '98-00 don't use a starter interlock for the immobilizer, it'll still crank without the transponder just won't fire up.

PD your correct. I have experienced the" no transponder " attempted start. The motor will turn just wouldn't fire up. The reason I asked the initial question is because my key was broken for a little more than a year. I finally had time to repair the key last week and I have had no starting issues since the new key was cut. While the key was broken I did a number of things to make starting easier. All methods had my transponder in close proximity to the key stalk. What I experienced was nothing close to the "missing transponder" attempted start. I experienced the starter problem that's common to our vehicles. I wanted to put this thread out here just in case any of our club member are having starter issue that they can't get their hands around. I repaired my key and my starting issues have disappeared.
