Default How many RPM's at 70 mph is normal

I have a 1995 LS400 with 158,200 mi I bought last week and my tach reads 3100 rpm at 70 is this about right for this car?

Yeah. In those older models with the 4 speed transmission that is pretty normal.

actually that seems high. i have a 97 with a 4speed and i recall it should be under 3k at 70mph, about 2.8k.

make sure your overdrive is on and working, 3100 is too high

I get 2250 rpm@ 70 mph. Stock tires. Mine's a 91.

Just checked it on the way home. 2300 rpms at 70 mph in my 99 with standard 16 inch tires: Michelin MXV4. 225/60. V rated. Smooth as silk.

any 98-up cars are not relevant to this as they have a 5th gear. oh how i wish i had a 5th gear for better mileage!

Not that you need another, but I'm jun the 2200 range in my stock 95 as well.

The chart below is for a 95 JDM. It tells almost everything. Period.
