New to the LS side
Hi. I'm normally on the 2GS side but the wife has been wanting an LS400 for a DD. I found a decent looking one last week and picked it up. 1990, 196k miles. Body and paint look decent, Interior has average wear but I'll have to either replace the seats or re-upholster eventually. Mechanically, the engine runs strong, no leaks. It does need the center support bearing replaced, got one coming in this week. Needs control arm bushings. Other than that it runs like it should. I'm pricing a good set of coilovers and looking for some decent rims/tires. Any suggestions or advice (especially on coil over experience/reviews) is greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the LS side. I've been trying to get one of those sunshades and a Hello Kitty license plate frame for ours but she says No.
Anyway...even though yours is a 1-LS, many of the 2-LS discussions in the FAQ are applicable:

LOL Actually that Hello Kitty sunshade didn't quite fit so now we have rainbow butterflies... There's a set of 19" L-sportlines for sale in the wheel classifieds. I was trying to talk her into getting them but she's not sure. I think they look good on your car.

Thx Legender! I've been blessed with a good woman that's willing to put up with my BS lol. She knows how bad I've been wanting to work on an LS so I know she knows it's really for myself but she's willing to play along for now. Plus she still has her Civic to drive around when I'm working on the LS.

I'm really considering a good spring/strut combo because it will be a daily driver mostly and I don't need to be that low but by the time you put one together you're almost at the cost of a decent coil over with the added adjustability factor. IDK I'm sorting out the bushings this week and the center support bearing. Strut bar cushions... ridiculous pricing lol

welcome, you'll find lots of info in the FAQ section. if you like to play around with suspension height and damping, i highly suggest going with coilovers off the bat. the ride isn't that much more stiff with the LS being a heavy car. you do need to address any torn bushings first before lowering.
