I had a terrible noise in my front end when my brakes were applied like the other guys here, my shocks were worn so i decided to replace them together. I bought KYB shocks and new front strut rod bushings (FSRB). everything went together like expected but I was not sure of the torgue spec or adjustment for the two 22mm nuts on the main strut rod. So I just torqued by feel and would later ask the alignment shop guy. When I took the car to the alignment shop (well known in the county) and asked about the FSRB adjustment and torque settings he didnt give me a solid answer. He did a 4 wheel alignment and off I went.
I am feeling that the front suspension hits the bumps much differently than the rear suspension, The back of the car seems very active versus the front of the car. I am wondering if the FSRB are possibly tightened too much. has anyone experienced this?

it is very important the the strut rod bushings are properly clocked when pressed in, ie.e there is a precise alignment, in a rotational sense, like a clock face that must be followed, also the torque specs in the service manual must be followed and critically, the torqueing down must be done with the full weight of the car on the wheels - this can be tricky, what I do is let the car down onto 4 Rhino style ramps, so that I can still get under it easily for the final torqueing down.

If you missed any of these steps, then it would certainly make sense that it's not feeling right!

If it's a first gen then nothing needs to be clocked or pressed in to place. All you have to do is pull the old one out and bolt the new one into place. I had found the tq. specs when I did mine but can't remember where I had found them.

I know a guy who bought some mustang bushings and modified them,installed them and they work fine.
