StereoRob's '95 is a bit slower than his '90 was, because ever since he has had the car, it's been in need of ECU capacitors and perhaps also not in the same state of tune as his '90 was
the 95's are slightly quicker than a 90 would be, but these two generations are close enough in performance that other factors tend to make a much bigger difference in power, rather than the generation of the car, something as simple as a tune-up.
starting in '98, however, the LS400 got considerably quicker, due to the new VVT-i variable valve timing and the elimination of the distributor caps, rotors, and plug wires, as well as an acoustic control induction system.

150mph seems to be the agreed on top speed by all the manufacturers of high output luxury cars. According to Car and Driver magazine the 1st gen cars (90-94, 250hp) and 2nd gen cars (95-97, 260hp) did not have speed limiters and top speed was limited by aerodynamic drag. Interesting the increase from 215 section width to 225 section width tires (1993?) resulted in slightly higher friction and more aero drag and dropped top speed from 150mph to 145mph. The better aero shape of the 95 models along with +10hp gave these cars a reported top speed of 156mph. Understand that these are terminal speeds without electronic limiters. As such weather conditions, road surface, wind, temperature, etc could reduce this speed for any given car depending on variable.
In 1998 the cars got a big power increase to 290hp/300tq and required a limiter as they would probably top 160mph maybe 165mph without one. Too fast for the Toyota and the limiter comes into play. This makes the 95-97 models the FASTEST LS cars, not quickest, just fastest... there is a difference!

What should I ask for my 1996 LS400 170,000. Leather, sunroof, premium sound, CD etc.
White with tan interior....gold package. It in very good condition. Garage kept....still smells like new.
New tires....Potenza's.

he doesnt have the reciept for it. but he told me the shop that did it i forgot but next time i see the car ill ask. and all the maintence was at the dealer until 170k so theres no doubt the car was taken care of and i dont need all records since there online.

yea and they did a worse check then my dad did. my dad saw a bunch of little things that i didnt. non were issues but he spotted out things the mechanic didnt spot. the mechanic said mechanically its a perfect car. but i dont trust him. it was a lousy inspection
