You should take the fender and the bumpers off to see how the support structures underneath fared. If you are lucky, maybe the quarter panel was the only real part of the body that was damaged.

It's probably a long shot, but you might as well dig a little deeper before just cutting her loose.

Wow! Sorry to see that. At least you didn't get injured. And I know the feeling of a complete loss without full coverage. My LS is is a loss as well. Sucks but like you said it's just proof that they're built solid.

I wouldn't give up on trying to find an estimate to repair it. For the sake of just seeing if its feasible. It doesn't look that badly banged up.

to keep from killing myself and my passengers, I only swerve for a large animal, such as a deer, elk or bear

My sister is an agent for a major Insurance company. The position of ANY insurance company on a situation such as this, whether serving to avoid an animal or another reckless driver on the road which ends up with you crashing your car. YOU will be held liable for the damages because YOU lost control of YOUR car. It would be best to just brace yourself and hit the obstacle if you have full converage and cant SAFELY avoid it.
Think about it. How many calls do insurance companies get from customers who just crashed their car doing something stupid and claim avoiding deer was involved? My sister gets them all the time. The customer isn't aware that she can see their prior DUI conviction(s).

PO. My sis would just laugh at you when you tell her you crashed after leaving a superbowl party. What goes on at these parties? Too Much Information buddy.

If it's not taller/higher than your hood, keep going...

HA ! just wait til your 79+ and your reactions will be so slow you will hit the animal before your mind can tell your body to swerve.... but you will still have a nice LS.

I apologize if your story is legit, but how many times have I heard people swerved for an animal, or hit black ice, or the car just spun on its own, which is always an excuse for a crash by: driving to fast for conditions/texting/not paying attention/drunk, thats the case 95% of the time as far as I'm concerned.

Best of luck on a new car!

Yikes. Give the guy a break. His LS is toast and all some of you are saying is "You probably were texting lol"

Imagine if something happened to your LS and someone said that to you.

Original poster: what did you end up doing with the car?
