are you sure you need a filter or the mesh screen on the side of the oil control valves for the VVT-i .
Always a good thing to post what and why your looking for an answer .

rishi,

If I recall correctly, the oil control filters are located underneath the oil control valve, which is located at the transmission end of the cylinder head. (refer to this LS400 cylinder head diagram for further clarification)

Hope this helps you out a bit buddy

The oil control valves for the vvt system, are located on the front of the cyl heads, one for each head.. NOW.. I have never seen these screens... I have taken out my valves and cleaned them PLUS cleaned the chamber they go in, BUT I have never seen these screens. IF YOU get them out, let us know. the following shows where they are located.

the car is throwing out 2 codes.. P1663 Oil Control Valve Circuit (bank 2) and P1354 Variable Valve Timing System Fault... because of this i have the "Check VSC" light on as well along with the check engine light...

I always hear about people cleaning out these filters... what are they talking about? how did you clean those valves? what did you use... I pulled them out yesterday and they looked fine to me.. didnt think about cleaning it or anything maybe i'll try that.

also on another note.. i think i need a new starter... the car starts sometimes, and sometimes doesn't turn anything over.. i turn the key and nothing... i hear the car locking and unlocking is it some security issue? i first thought it was some electrical problem.. but now im thinking its the starter. any ideas..

Thanks Billy!

ideas I "got". remedys? maybe..
I took my valves (ocv) out, cleaned them with carb cleaner, making sure the spring action was working (snappy) then got my mechanical fingers (photo) pinched a small piece of cloth, soaked it with carb cleaner and ran it up and down in the chamber, changing the dirty cloth until it came out clean. that fixed my cel & vsc lights.
On my starter, I replaced the solenoid contacts (photo) in both of my first two 99's, so far my third one is ok...
good luck

Did you ever find out where this goes on your LS4? Have the same issue with my SC4 but P1349. I tested the OCV and still functioning properly. I'm due for a T-Belt job tho and I've read somewhere that the belt may have stretched or skip a tooth which can also throw P1349.

I have the same problem. I took out the OCV and cleaned it. Still have the same issues of rough idling. The VSC and CEL still come on. Code P1349 came up when scanned. I can't seem to find anywhere a pic or "clear" diagram of the OCV filter placement.
