changed some fluids, now runs rough?!
On saturday night I changed the engine oil, level is good.
Drained the trans, put in APPROX 2 quarts. Damn hard to read the level. used oem t-iv fluid.
Also disconnected battery for about 10 minutes to clean the connectors and make sure the second battery to fender (aftermarket 0 awg audio cable) has a nice bare metal surface behind it.
I drove it around the block on sunday night and it felt...strange.
Now tonight it was idling, and i tried revving it slowly, definite shudder from engine or trans around 1050 rpm, not smooth sily revvs, sounds kind of choppy.
..what the heck is wrong?!
2 things i can think of : does the engine have to relearn its map?
or, is there some air left in the tranny, its in the converter and what im feeling is converter shudder?
Ps, it ran butter smooth on friday night.

checked level this morning. stone cold, grossly overfilled (confounded autos i tell ya)
So i drained it all out, since im flushing whole system with a gallon of the new stuff (drain, refill, drain, refill, rinse repeat till all fluid is new bright red)
Anyway so i put in...maybe a quart? I really dont know, I pour it from the big steel can into a gallon old water jug for easier pouring.
turned it on, cycled through all the gears, back to part. turned it off let it sit for 10 mins
Came out, cold level looked spot on. Hop in to drive it...doesnt move anywhere in reverse...
Had to go to work so took my buddies car.
Also the roughness when free revving was still there,
UIm assuming there just wasnt enough fluid to engage a drive gear?

Well, she wont drive at the moment! lol.
Just going to add another quart and see what happens. Worst case i drain it, which I have to do anyway.
Darn work gets in the way of real (car) work.

and make sure it is running, in Park, after just having shifted through the gears, and parked on very level ground when checking the fluid level (thoroughly warmed up, may take considerably more than 20 minutes in winter)
if you can't get it dead on the hot mark, remember that slightly over is better for the transmission than underfilled

cool, Ill go ahead and add another quart tonight, let it idle for a good while and check the dipstick often.
Not sure if thats the cause of the engine roughness though...

Some reason, my 94 seems to like having more than 2 quarts after a drain (3 or so..) otherwise it doesn't like to go into gear. But I'm pretty sure I have a valve body/solenoid issue to don't take my word lol. As LS said, overfilled is safer than under. Underfilled could kill a good trans

you know, it DOES feel like its misfiring...and I did spill some atf when i tried to make it chug a quart all at once...
I will dig deeper.
its COP, so we shall see.
First time id see ATF causing a misfire by getting on the connector though.
