I am going to check that out as I know the dealer I bought my car off of took the center console out to install a radio band extender (to use Japanese radio in North America).

They could have easily left the plugs off...

Now when yours stopped working were the switches still lighting up?
no, both lights were out. I checked fuses for both seats and they were fine, called a dealer and was told that this was common in older cars, one of the wires on the seat heater probably broke (on both seats at the same time??). Found several video's showing removing seat, seat cover and soldering a wire at the break. Just how it unplugged is a mystery, it's a beefy plug with about 20 wires in it. The panel was easily removed with a small screwdriver inserted between panel and console.
