I Read that you go 1/2 way through timing belt replacenent before you can have access to bracket?

not sure what you mean by "fan clutch bracket"?

- to remove the fan clutch, first remove the four nuts securing the fan, then the four nuts holding the fan clutch to the water pump - it's not even 2% of the timing belt job

removing the fan clutch is pretty simple and just takes a few minutes if you have good box end wrenches

I rhino he means the part the fan clutch bolts to, with coolant passges in it and the flange/bearing for the fan clutch. My bearing failed in it and I had to replace it. It's true you are at least hanfway through a timing belt job, and if you're not sure when it was done last, I would just do it.

OK, you mean the fan bracket! - yes, that is a fair amount more work than the fan clutch, my bad for not understanding what he was after!

here is the factory procedure - step 36 is the fan bracket - it looks like more work than it really is - be glad it is not the starter, that really is a lot of work!

I Just did this recently it actually isnt as bad as that diagram is. u can skip alot of steps

basically i remeber taking of the timing belt covers and spark plug covers. the diagram will show you how many bolts are there. but i didnt have to take off anything else.

i did not have to do half of those steps

fan was completely removed but the radiator stayed. the ps pump and all stayed. the covers are pretty much the only thing in the way from this and the coil you can push it out of the way. becareful with the wires for the knock sensors. and just wiggle it off once all the bolts are off. i did it so proof it can be done not the way it says. it still will take some time though

disconnect battery (i didnt remove it)
steps 13-17
skip 18 & 19
then check for all the nuts and bnolts for it.

note that manual is for replacing the timing belt in which case all those steps are necessary.

a long magnet is your friend for this.
