Default Strange humming sound

Hi,
I have a 2000 LS400, bought it this past July, love it, drives awesome. Anyways, I got the wheel barrings replaced at the end of August because they were really worn down and there was a strange humming noise that I would hear whenever I drove the car either accelerating or slowing down. Well, its still making that sound even with the wheel barrings replaced, does anyone have any idea what it could be, again its a loud humming noise whenever I'm accelerating, or slowing down say off the freeway. Even just driving around when not pressing the gas, its making noise. Normal?

Help would be appreciated

Since you're replaced your wheel bearings, maybe it's your axles..

This. Go have a chat with your local (independent) mechanic about it and have them diagnose it. If it does turn out to be an axle issue, see if you can find a Celsior at your junkyard with intact axles.

A bad transmission mount (only last about 60K miles) will do this; it's a simple $40 fix. Motor mounts can also cause similar problems, but they are more difficult and costly to replace. Both can transmit engine/transmission/driveline vibration into the cabin, particularly when under torque and/or specific rpm conditions.

You might want to try probing around with a mechanic's stethoscope. Three things come to mind in no particular order. It could be an alternator diode that's failed or getting ready to fail. Second, check out the bearing in the fan bracket. Third is the p/s pump - is your power steering fluid topped up?

and don't go back to the place who diagnosed you with "bad wheel bearings" - I have seen 2000 LS400's with over 400,000 miles and I have NEVER seen one that had any wheel bearings go out - good grief!
