I have a 1998 LS, my cup holder functions sporadically. Upon pressing it down, sometimes it comes out, other times it wont come out at all. Anybody else have this same problem and if so any remedies?

open up the console, take cupholder out, clean thoroughly with warm (mildly) soapy water to get out years of coffee/soda/alcohol, replace and enjoy.
small spray of silicone lube or grease in the gears if you can get to them (a MINUSCULE amount) wouldn't hurt either.

I too have a malfunctioning cup holder.Please post a few tips after you go through the clean up process.Thanks.

Just follow Pure's advice and remove and clean the gunk from the cup holder. Removing the front cup holder is no more than a five minute job if you've never done it before - maybe two minutes for me. Here is a photo of me lifting mine out after I popped out the center console wood and removed the screws that hold the cup holder in place.
