Default Check engine light

Sup everybody, I've had my 91 Ls400 for about 3 weeks now and it has about 164,000 miles. My check engine light came on last night while i was driving on the freeway. I was in a hurry to get home so i didnt warm up my car. I started up the car this morning and warmed it up for about 7 mins. and the light didnt come back on during my drive. Do you guys think the light just came on because i didnt warm up my car last night or is it likely there's something wrong with the engine. Thanks

It might be something else. What about Traction Control light? Did it comes on too? It the Check engine light comes on after few minutes of the engine started?

Thumbs down

Nay, not warming up before driving would not trip the engine light. Pull the code would be the next logical step.

I have a 92 LS 400. About 1.5 years ago the check engine light came on. It was the o2 sensors that needed replacing. I replaced them and the light went off. About 2 weeks after replacing them the check engine light and trac light came on and stayed on for about 30 minutes and then went off. Havn't had any problems since, not sure what it was all about.

i think i figured out the problem...i heard that lexus' check engine light sometimes comes on when you dont turn the key to the right enough...today i turned the key softly and then the check light came on...i turned it off and did the same thing again...still on...so then i turned it to the right harder and then the light went away.

Check engine light came on to tell you something is wrong with the car via the computer. Warming up the car has nothing to do withit, beside you don't have to warm up the car before you drive. 10 sec. after start up you can drive the car, just don't raise the rpm too high until the engine is at operating temperature.

Do a search in SC400 and/or this forum on check engine light. I post a procedure on how to retrieve the trouble code out a looong time ago... Each code has different problem. Post the code here and some one will try to help... These trouble code are Toyoya code so any Toyota book will at least give you a hint on what wrong with the car...
