Default AT fluids - best test I have seen so far:

If you like researching AT fluids, than this test is for you. It is quite an eye opener (try and guess which ATF won):

Seems that I will be changing my ATF yet again; I have redline synthetic ATF in there right now, and it is great for my purposes, but there are better ones out there. It scored great in some tests such as cold but not too cold performance as well as pressure tests, but failed in some others...

I scrolled through and saw only gear oil and not ATF. Did I miss the page?

Are you going to use the Amsoil gear oil for your AT?
I don't understand your point. This looks like just an advertisement of Amsoil gear oil.

Exactly! - especially when our Aisin transmissions last far longer than any other transmissions, using the T-IV fluid they recommend, why would you deviate from that kind of track record?

Having been reading up all day, and going blind from it all, my initial post is a "little confusing" I admit...

Well maybe I will use that one as differential oil, but I was excited to find out that AMSOIL seems to go way out of their way to make a good oil... I know it sounds like a propaganda piece for AMSOIL, but apparently it is all well documented and done independently.
Not that I have a horse in this race, just trying to see what is out there.
Here is one about their ATF:

no, sorry for being confusing...
but why would you assume that the test is an advertisement for Amsoil? Maybe they really know what they are doing when it comes to oils?

amsoil is notorious for hiring companies to do "independent" comparisons.

some of the nice folks at BITOG forums have actually done 3rd party consumer testing and gotten clean results. I suggest you look there.

Redline synth gear oil is actually what I find most people with manual transmission japanese cars running. (esp. supra/mr2/240/FC crowds.)

I guess when something sounds too good to be true...
Funny enough, I already have redline in my AT, and was thinking of dumping it after reading AMSOIL tests...
In the end, it seems that either I can spend an eternity trying to get to the bottom of it all, or just stick with Toyota/OEM stuff.

With as many growing samples of high miles Lexus cars on OEM fluids, the key part of this is regular fluid service intervals. Any benefits don't show up till many-many years and miles driven.

note that I said "Manual" transmission cars... they run gear oil for the trans, not ATF.
