Joining the Lexus family.
Hello all, I am the Pliz.
First off, I joined the Lexus family by chance. I work for a local towing company called Aurora Towing. A week ago I got dispatched to a call, in which the RO call to get a vehicle towed to the crush. So I went to the call expecting to see a POS, but instead it was a LS400. ... I asked the guy, about it, and he said that he was done working on the car. He had it since 95, and just wanted to get rid of it. He did own two more Lexus' one was a newer LS400, and the other was a new RX400. So he asked if I wanted the car, I said "Yes" got the keys hooked it up to my tow truck, and brought it home. About a hour later the RO showed up at my office with the title in hand, and had me fill it out so it was official.
So far I been looking through Club Lexus at ideals from other ls400 owners. I really like the VIP style, but I need something for year round. I live in Alaska so a low car wouldn't make it for too long. I also noticed that straight pipes on the LS400 make it sound like a monster.
So maybe a 1" drop, with 18" plenty of rubber, and a simple roof spoiler.

well we know pretty much everything that goes wrong with these cars, they are great overall, so if you have a problem on the car, you can describe it here and usually have the solution within a few hours
this is because of pattern failure, so your year of LS400 is going to pretty much have identical issues as everyone else with that model (not counting anything caused by accidents)
you local mechanic works on everything, so he will be clueless compared to us, since we are the largest group in the world of LS400 specialists!

I would strongly suggest that you order this - will save you a LOT of money
or else take it to a place that repairs hydraulic hoses for airplanes, lots of places like that in Alaska!

Thank you Cowboy.
I've been messing around with the car a bit pulling apart stuff, and what not. The radio, interior lights, and power seats are not functional. So gotta figure that out. I pulled the radio it had a aftermarket FM Transmitter, I took that off the stock wiring harness, and pulled the extra wires out. I lifted up my rear passenger seat, and cleaned under there. I found about $1.50.
... I think I got a Radiator, and power steering leak. ... Gotta look into it.
Not complaining about free, just happy to have a Lexus.

straight pipes are a bad plan - the LS400 has a spectacular exhaust system, great power and great mileage - I wouldn't touch it!
if you need something to spend money on and do, do the timing belt right now while it is still warm, because when it breaks, you can send the engine to the crusher! - and do you really know when it was last done and by whom?
here is something very cool - $800 worth of real genuine Lexus dealership parts for $190!!
