1UZ from 91 LS400 - Gasket / TB Kit OEM Parts
I've pulled a 1UZ for a swap that I'm working on and I want to seal it up and replace the belts, water pump etc... before putting it in the recipient vehicle. I was hoping you guys could help me out with who has the best OEM prices for a service/maintenance kit. If OEM is ungodly expensive, then what aftermarket vendor do you recommend?
Also, not have worked on a 1UZ previously, anything you would recommend replacing while I'm in there? I don't want to pull the heads.
Thank you very much for any help/input anyone provides.

you have come to the right place for advice, my friend
what if I told you that you can get all of the real genuine Toyota OEM parts like you would buy from the dealership for $161 to your door? (instead of $800+)
including:
● AISIN Water Pump
● KOYO Idler Bearing
● NSK Tensioner Bearing
● NTN Hydraulic Tensioner
● Mitsuboshi Timing Belt
those are all of the original makers!
the only things I would add would be the cam and crank seals from the dealership and the real Nippon Denso caps, rotors, wires and plugs and a new Toyota thermostat!

Thank you SOOO much. That will definitely get me started.
Do you have a recommended site for OEM parts such as you have mentioned. I know honda, for example, has a site "majestic automotive parts", which are OEM and a fraction of the cost of going to the local dealer.
I'm sure I will need various other gaskets etc... when assembling the engine again (intake, valve covers, oil pan etc...)

"Majestic automotive parts" is nothing more than the online presence of a Rhode Island Honda dealership - they are just giving the typical 20-25% off that any dealership does for mechanics or online sales.
The are plenty of online Lexus/Toyota dealers that would be the equivalent, such as Sewell Lexus, Park Place Lexus, Lexus of Sorth Atlanta, and Carson Toyota to name a few. Lexus Parts Now is also good for genuine parts from the dealership.

Thank you very much everyone. That is exactly what I was looking for.
What is your guys' opinion of the ebay gasket sets? I won't be using the HG's, valve seals, or main oil seals, but for all the other little gaskets on the engine.
An example: http://www.ebay.com/itm/90-97-Lexus-LS400-SC400-4-0L-DOHC-Head-Gasket-Kit-1UZFE-/370802118375?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5655874ee7&vxp=mtr

my opinion is NO!
I strongly suggest real Toyota gaskets from one of the sources I listed above, gaskets are just too important and too cheap to use the non-OEM garbage!
the only exception is that I like to use aftermarket Fel-Pro gaskets on oil/tranny pans where the factory used FIPG (a fancy acronym for Permatex) - because they had a robot in Tahara, Aichi prefecture to apply it, and you are not a robot!

It seems that Lexus of Sorth Atlanta has the best prices, for at least the gasket overhaul kit. It comes in at $367 where sewell is around 485 for the same kit. The other places shot somewhere in between the two.

if you haven't signed up and registered at Sewell with your Club Lexus username, then you really are not seeing their real prices!
