Default Differences in brake systems for the different LS generations?

Does anybody know if there are differences in the brake systems for the several generations of LS models. e.g. no of pistons, weight of the caliper, pad size, rotor size?

I am considering upgrading my brake system of my 98 GS300 and heard that the 4 pistons-caliper of the LS430 may fit. One of my friends can get an used LS400 ('96?) caliper, but I do not if this is the same as the new LS430.

Thanks.

This is a big can of worms.

LS has gone through the most brake revisions.
