Default Ordering Motor Mounts, What Else Should I Replace

Hello, I am about to order a new set of motor mounts for my 92 LS. I have read through alot of the threads about the install. What else should I change out since I am removing some of the steering/suspension parts (bushings..ect...)?

Any tips on the install are also much appreciated!

I will be taking the car for an alignment and tire balance once the install is complete.

Thanks

I am sure you may have done the tranny mount. Other than that easy stuff would be sway bay bushings and power steering rack bushings. As far as install just support it well and take your time.

Taking the steering rack out certainly makes it MUCH easier! The rack bushings are probably rotted as it is anyway.

Don't be afraid to drop the front crossmember too, i couldnt get enough clearance even with jacking up the motor. Its not too bad, just four big bolts and it'll come loose, and the struts hold it from just falling out of the car. I didn't have to touch the lower control arm adjusting bolts, it had plenty of movement on its own.

WARNING: it is very easy to damage the heater control valve when you jack up the engine....

Thanks again for the info!

Just search using the keyword engine mounts in this forum. It will come up in the search results. There's a thread with lots of pics. I have it bookmarked but I'm on my phone and can't attach it.

Here you go. I'm in the process of getting mine done. I just did the tranny the other day and as soon as I get some more time I'm going to give the engine mounts a go. This is for a second gen with pics.

There are no pics in this one but it's another way to go about it.

This is for a 91 so should be the same and it has pics.

The two things i know that are CRITICAL are unbolting the said heater valve, and also unbolt/unhook the power steering return hose where it connect to the fender.

The Heater valve can be unbolted and simply moved out of the way, i had no issues with it afterwards, just keep your eye on it so you don't crush it!

Since i was replacing the P/S pump at the same time, it was already unhooked, but if you look at it you will see that if you simply jack up the engine, you are going to snap the power steering return hose, or worse, damage the hard lines

Just changed all my mounts last weekend and now I seem to have more noticeable movement in the engine than I had with the old worn out mounts. Do the new mounts need time to settle since the engine is in a new position?

Excellent question. One (inexperienced person) would think that they would actually get softer after settling. This is a guess as I've never done this on a Lex. Funny though, I just did this with my dad's Chevy Venture this past Tuesday.
