Default Stuck with no idea

Recently had car trouble and the battery was dead. Took the battery to autozone and got it charged and its been good for days but now the car has cut off and won't turn over. No noise or anything. Can't even put it in park. What could the problem be? I think its the alternator and if so whats a reasonable cost for repair.

Yeah, sounds like your alternator. If you get it started again, take it over to an Autozone or similar and have the battery / alternator tested. Also, make sure your alternator is not covered in power-steering fluid. If you are leaking PS fluid you need to fix this first before replacing the alternator.

Could be as simple as corroded battey terminals or cable connections. If the car starts and runs but fails to start later, its battery related

Could also be alternator related, if the alternator (which uses the engine to re-charge your battery as you drive) is not working properly, the battery is just getting drained to death and would result in not having enough juice to start the car again/even dying as you're driving if the alternator has completely called it quits. Happened to me on my first car haha

I'd recommend taking your car to the nearest shop, getting your battery re-charged and asking for an AVR test. This will test the power of your battery and see if it is weak (will easily lose a charge) and will also test your alternator's output power, seeing if your alternator needs to be replaced as well.

Definitely remember Lavrishevo's comment, PS fluid leaking from the pump onto the alternator and frying it seems to be a common problem here.

Prior to this, any dash warning lights? Can be a whole bunch of potential issues and getting any error codes read will be much faster and wallet saving. May not be an alternator: blown fuse, corroded battery cable, key cylinder short...

This.

Usually when your alternator goes the battery light comes on in the dash.

Was the light on while you were driving?

This EXACT thing happened to me last month. If you have bad PS then you should fix both same time so you don't have to fix alternator again.
