Unhappy My poor car

This is why I hate driving in Florida. I see more wrecks here than anywhere else I have ever lived.

Anyway you can see in the pics nothing in the rear lines up correctly anymore. Even all the taillights don't line up right. The trunk isn't lined up to the rest of the rear. The damage doesn't look that bad though.

It's a 1992 with 300,000 miles on it. The interior is in great shape and the exterior was in excellent shape as well. Got to go get my estimates this week. Anybody got any guesses on how much this might end up costing?

I'm 27 and been driving since I was 15. Never had an accident before. I really don't understand how hard it is for some people to drive. Rear end accidents are the dumbest of all. JUST STOP!!

Sorry just had to rant about it.

Can't really tell too much from the pics, maybe a full shot of the back would help.

300,000? you must ask yourself, is it really worth fixing?

LOL. It was registered last year. Yes it's worth fixing. Straightened some of it out myself. Told the other party I could probably fix it myself. Said all I want is $50 for my time and some supplies. Sounds fair to me.

you have lost your friggin mind!

I can assure you that the dealership or any body shop worthy of working on a Lexus LS is gonna charge at least $2000 to fix that correctly, and I am likely very low in my estimate, since I am still kinda in the 1990's - lol

your seriously need to have the other party's insurance company pay to have this fixed right, or at least issue you a check for at least $2000

liability insurance is mandatory in Florida and that state is a real stickler about it!

Exactly it would probably be totaled at that cost. Any auto-check would also show a reported accident. I can make it look right myself. I have done bodywork myself in the past. Just told them I wanted a little something for my time mostly. Her choice, seems easy from my perspective.

I don't wanna deal with insurance. It will just take up what little off time I have. Living in FL it will probably just happen again.

It does have 300,000 on the odo. So its not really worth it to me to have it repaired at any cost really.
I would rather just go the easy route.

If the damage was more severe I would def get insurance involved. Plus I kinda felt bad for the lady.

Can't believe you only asked for $50. A used bumper cover/support will cost more than that... and that may only be the start of the issues.

if the bumper can be salvaged, the repaint alone as an estimate will be around $700-800. they call this a bumper refinish. if other things are compromised, like talilight and core support etc, it will be much more. keep in mind labor rates are generally $100/hr.

I just got my entire rear bumper repaired ( had a gash in it from the garage door ) and repainted for $350... with a touchup guy that came to my house... but you're right... a shop will and does charge more...
