Dude! - I think you need to give her the full 7 inches!

go get yourself a 40 of Colt 45 to drink while you are installing this 40 oz!

and pick up some extra oil, you're gonna need it!

yes, meets all of the stock specs, gasket size, thread size & pitch, pressure, bypass pressure, flow rate etc. but no Mobil 1 version of this King Kong

largest Mobil 1 filter is about half that size, M1-301

but on a serious note, I doubt the giant WIX filter will physically fit due to the sway bar or some similar suspension component

caveat to those who follow advice given,u can ruin ur motor..putting a larger filter in will give u absolutely no advantage.
1348 vs 1773=15 micron compared to 32...you people need to realize the importance of engineering.
when is the last time u changed ur air filter...probably more important than an oil filter

This has been a pretty informative read so far from everyone involved so I hope this one can stay open.

I'm curious what Yamae thinks about the bigger oil-filter.

I only use oem filters, and change every year or 15.000km the engine-oil and filter. I don't see any problem with this.

ur putting in a filter that has a higher micron rating... over twice the size of particles will be allowed to flow through the motor..btw that 1773 is for big trucks and tractors. ..these engines have run well over 4-500,000 miles using the specified filters...why change? ..its ur car do as u please. I wont be using any fram filter with ext oci or removing my ecm to diag my car.

Well she couldn't handle all 7 inches. It's just too big! So i put a mobil 1 M1-301 on her and she works great! Also another added bonus is that the engine is running a bit cooler. Usually the temp gauge would be exactly horizontal during normal operation which would be between the 2 marks but now it is running at the lower mark. I would recommend anyone doing this. Also on an added note an oil change will be exactly 6.1 quarts with the M1-301 filter. More filter and more oil is nothing but added benefit! You could conceivably go 15k or more between oil changes with a high quality oil like Mobil 1 but i personally will change about every 8-10k. we could see an added 100-200k on engine life with this too! Less heat and better filtering and better oiling! I have done this in previous cars but never really realized the benefits! Thanks again LSCowboy! This rocks!

More oil has nothing to do with your coolant temperture, maby oil temperture goes down but is that better? Probaly the thermostat had his best time... Or the gauge is not working properly.
