Default Anyone ever pull the motor w/ trans out?

Would prefer to do it this way rather than the trans and motor separately. I know the sway bar is in the way, but will I have enough clearance in the tunnel to lift the motor a bit and bring it over the sway bar and then tilt it and pull them both out together? Also doubting it, but is there a massive connector similar to what Audi/VW's have for the engine harness or are they all individual plugs? Finding it a pain in the *** to reach the injector clips.

pretty sure it can all come out together if you've got a leveller/tilter on your hoist. for the harness you may be better off unplugging it from the ECU and pulling it out over the motor.

This is actually the way the FSM instructs to do it. just be careful with the last part, as what commonly happens is people smash and damage the P/S lines on the final pull

Ok thanks guys! Ill do that then and ill watch out for those lines. Drifter what you're saying is unplug the harness from the ecu, pop the grommet off the wire wall and snake the lines out into the engine bay? My buddy tackled that side when we pulled the dash so I didn't pay too much attention. Is it fesable without pulling the dash again?

yep, and yes it should be very doable without pulling the dash, just the glovebox to give you access to the ECU. If you have two people you can have one guy gently tugging the harness from the bay side while the other feeds the harness through the hole in the firewall.

. Much rather do this than disconnect every single clip. Makes my life easier too! Figured it would be easier to just pull it together so I can clean up the bay and remove things that aren't necessary, replace the ABS lines with just 1 line and do the EGR delete and clean up the motor. Weight reduction here I come!

Everything disconnected just wanted to clear that up before I try and pull it.

My old cressida's FSM specified to drop the rack before pulling the engine out, but i was able to get them out without touching it.. However, i also dropped the tranny out before doing the engine, so you may need to drop it as well. Its not too difficult to do it though, and you most likely will have deteriorating rack bushings anyway.

Unbolted the rack and wasn't able to pull it out, so left it in. It was a bit of a pain but I finally got the trans over the rack and both motor and trans out of the car in 1 piece.
