Wood steering wheel crack repair -- 98 LS400
I have a 98 LS400 with a wood sectioned steering wheel. It's a lovely wood with a high gloss varnish, which cracked a bit on the top due to age & weather. It looks really nice and can't really notice the fine cracks, but you could definitely feel them and was annoying to steer feeling those cracks.
So being a woman, and knowing what a 4 stage nail buffer can do for the fingernails, I used it on my steering wheel wood and smoothed those cracks right out! It feels so good now steering it. By the 4th stage of the buffer it got some of the gloss back but not like it was. I rubbed it down with a microfiber cloth w/ mineral oil for a while and it seemed to get a bit more gloss back.
My question now, is what kind of compound / cloth can I use to keep rubbing it to get the steering wheel to a high gloss again? I'm happy with the way it is now (feels perfect) and looks a bit shiny--but it'd be nice to get it fully restored to the way it was.
Thanks!

I ended up going with Meguire's Mirror Glaze Professional Show Car Glaze. I kept rubbing this on for about 20 minutes and it is now glossy.
I got this idea from someone who used it to restore the finish on their guitar; he used some other polish after this to get it even shinier but this is good enough for me.
