From what I am gathering, as a little note. The "D" shaft needs to be removed from the OEM shaft and inserted onto replacement unless you find the part with the exact style shaft insert. Rather simple. Rip off price for the actuator is $400 but you can find them pretty easily for around $200. Even from a dealer, online of course. Come on LsCowboy, at least look at the links before rolling your eyes at me... lol

Denso doesn't make small motors like that. I know Honda uses NMB as their supplier of lock actuators, and they are one of the world's biggest maker of small motors and fans.

Just look at the links provided... It is Mabuchi Motors (Japanese company) who makes the motor. When the actuator goes out this is the piece that fails. Maybe it's hard to accept that Lexus charges such an insane amount for a $5 part.

here is Mabuchi Motor America's information, someone needs to call them and find out their authorized distributors

Mabuchi Motor America
3001 West Big Beaver Road, Suite 328
Troy, MI 48084
Phone: 248-816-3100

the reason I stress this, is that the problem of counterfeits is epidemic!

if the Chinese will counterfeit a 20 cent capacitor, all day, every day, they would have a field day with something like this actuator!!

From what I understand, the authentic Mabuchi parts are stamped on the white plastic. Just like the ebay item. How does a $1.75 make you feel? Hilarious if you ask me. $400 if you walk up to a dealers part counter. $1.75 if you order online... LOL

Just trying to find Denso ignition coils for my 1990 ls400, and I come upon this:
http://www.amazon.com/OEM-5062-Ignition-Coil/dp/B000CSQET6/ref=au_pf_ss_3?ie=UTF8&Make=Lexus|75&Model=LS400|1003&Year=1990|1990&carId=001&n=15684181&s=automotive http://www.amazon.com/OEM-5062-Ignition-Coil/dp/B000CSQET6/ref=au_pf_ss_3?ie=UTF8&Make=Lexus|75&Model=LS400|1003&Year=1990|1990&carId=001&n=15684181&s=automotive
So what's wrong you say? The scammers are getting smarter by the minute: notice it says "OEM", but that's not because it is "original equipment manufacturer", but rather - that's the name of the company that makes it!
And someone fell for it, I bet.
While on the subject, I cannot find Denso ignition coils for my LS anywhere. Tried rockauto, ebay and so on... Any leads?

iirc the actuators are the entire actuator, not just the motor. it's the rest of it that adds up.

Denso does not make this part for aftermarket, so dealer part at 25%-30% discount is your best bet

but here is something you could try - go to various auto parts stores, and ask to see the coils for 1990 LS400, you may get lucky and find the Denso part in a Beck Arnley or Delphi or other brand box!

I have had success doing just that on TPS's and crank and cam sensors!

FWIW, the OEM "service" filter isn't the same as the one installed at the assembly plant. Honda and Subaru use Fram-made service filters. All replacement ones from Toyota are made in Thailand.
the ones you would typically buy at the dealership, or used in their service department, yes.

however, many people seek out the wonderful p/n 90915-20004 Nippon Denso original assembly filters made in Japan - and they are also larger!

Is replacing the motor inside an actuator a real PITA? Justifying replacing the entire actuator? Or are people just being suggested to replace the entire actuator by the dealership as a means to make $$$? I see the guide linked above and might be performing this installation in the near future. It is a real PITA that I have to manually lock the doors. They work half of the time and fail the other half of the time.

Has anyone installed the motors linked here? What was your experience?
