rattle noise from behind the glove compartment
Hi guys,
I took my car (94' LS400) to Big Bear last week. I used the AC/heater all time. The car went up and down the hill no problem.
On the way back, I started the engine and turned on the AC/heater and suddenly there was a "rattle" noise coming out from behind the glove compartmet. Plus there was a smell (kinda like a death rat or something). After 1/2 hour, they are all dissapear.
Does anybody know what had happened?
Thanks for the help,
Dom

i'm not totally sure how hard it is to change the blower motor in a gs300 but i'm sure it's something u can do yourself. i went to your attachment and i saw the copy of the manual and it looks like it can be gotten to pretty easily. before u go and buy a new blower make sure u are getting power to the blower. unplug the connector on the blower and turn your heat on and make sure it gets power with a test light. let me know what happens.

yeah ground the test light then make sure u have a good ground by touching the positive side of the battery with the point of the test light, it should light up. if it dosen't light you need to find a different ground. after u find the ground turn on the blower and touch one of the connector pins in the connector that you pulled of the blower, one of them should light. if it dosen't then your problem is most likely somewhere before the blower. but u should still test the blower since it's right there.
to test the blower your most likely going to need a 12v soure like a jumper pack or a battery. if you can get to the connector pins on the blower easily u wont have to remove otherwise pull it out. put the positive wire to one pin and the negative to the other and blower should run if it's working properly. hope this helps.

i just thought of an easier way to test the power to the blower. just take the test light and touch one end of the light to one of the pins in the connector and touch the other end of the test light to the remaining pin in the connector and the light should come on when u turn on the blower. if u do it this way your testing power and ground to the blower at the same time. i should of thought of that before. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
p.s. if you can't get the test light in the connector i use two paperclips and i insert those into the connector pins first then touch the paperclips with the light. hope that saves u some time.
