Does oil pressure increase with rpms?
So its happened again. A new oil leak.
This ones a very slow drip, but it appears to actually be coming from the motor this time.
No es bueno.
My question is if the oil pump increases pressure with an increase in speed or rpms?
Is my tendancy of running the car pretty hard the cause of my leaks?
I realize that a warmer engine will have a higher oil pressure because of the oil becoming more fluid. But I doubt that infrequent wot or short high speed runs will have much of an effect in that aspect.
I read somewhere that oil pressure is roughly 10 psi for every 1000 rpm. But I am doubtful of this number as 60 psi seems very high if we redline it.
Anybody have any experience here or measured their oil pressure in different engine conditions?
