amazon isnt often a retailler as much as they are a marketplace. more often authorized sellers for items do sell through amazon. (though no idea who the OP bought their stuff to).

Interesting thread. I had my ECM in my Supra (G-Force modded with daughterboards, raised rev limit, speed limiter and boost cut disabled) suddenly start acting up - Vf was stuck at +5.0v and it was running pig rich all the time - and I could never find a reason why. I put the OEM ECM back in, and it ran fine, passed smog, Vf was normal. I looked in the ECM and it has the Nichicon caps in it. Only four of them but if I can get that ECM to work again, I'll be very happy!

I installed a GReddy BCC in the OEM ECM, so working on it is no big deal. I was a bench electronics tech in the Air Force, so soldering is pretty simple - got a few spools of 37/63 eutectic in my tool box too...

The knowledge in this thread needs a wider audience!

Yes, this same issue plagues late 80's to late 90"s Supras, and well as *many* other Japanese cars

Hello everybody, here a post from another dutch guy.

I own a Toyota celsior 1995, and after some day that i had the car, the idle seems to be going wrong. The car falls out after some time.

After about 45min on the highway on cruisecontrol (max 110km/h japanse import RHD) the engine is good on temp, Then i get off the highway en stop for a traffic ligt, the car sometimes falls out or very low rpm (150 to 200RPM) But if i then turn on the AC or i restart the car all seems to be ok again. It seems to be like a vacuum problem, but can it also be in the ECU?

The car had 112.568 Real KM'S
Year 1995
V8, has traction control.

I check the throttlebody inside, and it looked pretty clean (not weird because so low km's)

And where could i find the ECM? (ecu)

Also sometimes the airbag lights flashes on the dash, just for a second.

Does anybody has suggestions for solving the problems?

Thanks,
Poika.

The ECU is located behind the glove box just above the passenger's foot. The last several photos of below link will help you know the location.

Regarding the fall out or very low rpm problem after the high speed run, I have some experience.
Check your ECU ID number. 89661-50240 and 89661-50241 tend to cause your type of stall problem after high speed run when the car is aged. This is a known issue among JDM and USM 95 models. Re-programing of the ECU or the ECU ID number 89661-50380 can fix the problem in most of the case but I don't know these are possible or not in your area.

Thank you for your reply ! I apreciate it.

But how is this possible with 112.456 km's??? Its toyota quality right?

Today its very rainy in Holland, so i could not check the ECU

But: If i have one of those 'bad' ecu's, how can i re-program the ecu? If not re-program, where could i find a good ECU what solves the idle?

And i find it very strange that when it runs 250rpm, i look at the gauge, and i see the idle coming up very slow till 650rpm again.

Also had allready 3 times, when getting off the highway the engine dies, and needs restart. after that it can run fine again or not

With AC on it seems to be a lot better.

Thans again,

you will need a 95 or 96. 97 has an immobilizer.

Thans again,
Your symptom must be something like this below.

As far as I have talked to 95 Celsior owners, many of them started to have the problem after aged. Some 10 years / 100,000km and others some more. They say cleaning the throttle body and cleaning the injectors may fix the problem but I know many not fully successful.

Changing the ECU from 89661-50240 or 89661-50241to 89661-50380 can fix it most of the case. The 89661-50380 has a newer engine management system that prevents the engine goes to too low rpm in certain severe conditions as far as I was informed.

Regarding the availability, I sometimes have seen the 89661-50380 was sold at the Yahoo Auction in Japan below.
http://auctions.search.yahoo.co.jp/s...ab_ex=commerce

Currently, the 89661-50380 is not sold but you'd better to watch. The problem is that many sellers do not ship abroad except some.

There is a person who has succeeded to fix the problem buying and using it with an additional work. His original intention was to fix different problems as were explained by LScowboyLS at #1 post here. Changing to the 89661-50380 and replacing all the Nichicon PF(M) capacitors prior to install it fixed everything and he was very happy.

Used JDM Celsior ECUs are ranging 5,000-15,000 Yen ( 49 - 147 Euro ) as far as I watch the Yahoo Auction. I live in Japan but I'm not a Yahoo Auction member and I have no idea to bid for you. Non member can only bid up to 4,999 Yen.

There are some agents who bid instead of someone who lives in abroad. Below are those agents.
http://en.kaigai-tenso.com/
http://frontier-e.com/en/index.htm
https://www.japantodoor.com/help.asp?idno=49
http://www.tenso.com/en/

I have never used them and I have no idea to comment which agent is good neither.
Sorry for the limited suggestion but this is the most I can do for you.
