i was going to go directly to UAS for the air i think they are in the ball park of $2000-25000. seems like a lot of owner recommend UAS for air bag kit.
I"m just debating to replace the strut with megan shock or bilstein HD.

here we go again with more maintenance
i following the strut rod bushing replacement guide https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...ock-noise.html

i been noticing the front end shimmy at high speed. .
So what do you know the strut rod bushing are both cracked and pretty worn out after 185k miles
i ordered a new set of bushing thru sewell which should be here tomorrow

i'm going to take the strut rod to local shop to get them pressed out and new ones pressed in.

i also replaced the tie rod at the same time cuz i notice the boots were ripped and leaking

i decided to be guinea pig and try out stagg shocks from ebay. I read some review from honda and bmw forum and there seem to be very mixed review.
The price was the most attractive reason to try out these shocks. for set of 4 they were under $200 (which is less than half the price of bilstein, KYB or tokico even at dealer cost)
I will be throwing them on combo with tanabe DF210 lowering springs.
i know blah blah blah shocks are not made for the springs. i want to try them out simply for the reason for prices.
i read people have contacted stagg and they claim the quality and performance is very similar to Tokico Blue / Illumina
supposedly they have life time warranty.

here are the picture when they arrived.

Very nice coating the stamping on the shock body.

uhm, KYB can be had for ~$250-300,and given their reputation and longevity I woulda shelled out for it...

I would also suggest doing the lower ball joints since you are in there with the suspension apart.

My take on parts for future reference: The parts add up $ but done with quality, they tend to have better durability, you wont be coming back in a year to do the drill. Especially running shocks on lowering springs. As PD mentioned, those KYB GR2's are good units and reasonable.

The Bilsteins in ours have 90K miles on them. We'll see how long they last.

yeah set of KYB are still $350+
no way they can be had for $250. if you can get them for $250 i buy them from you in a instant because that's even lower than my wholesale cost.

like i said only reason i'm trying stagg is just for reason of trying them out.. Yes they are cheap but if they stand up to OE quality they would be hell of a bang for the buck.
if i wanted quality stuff i would go to bilstein or even coilover but for now i'm going to be a test subject and try the stagg out

(too bad kw doesn't make coilover for ls400. i would shell out good money for set of kw coilover.)

the lower ball joints are actually in pretty good condition i've checked already. No leaks look like they have changed at one time.

maybe many years ago it can be had for $265.
there has been many price increase over the year.
as i mention before the stagg are CHEAP. less than $150 for complete set of 4
i just finished installation on the suspension and strut rod tonight.
1st impression on the quality . The stagg shocks have absolutely no fitment problem.
the shocks are made exactly to OEM spec.
i'll post up more review when the springs and suspension settles in.

lol i'm not going to argue with you, he purchased it like just over a year ago or so.

even the cheapest Chinese made sensen crap will FIT, it's ride and longevity where the cheapie ones fall short by a significant margin.

i hope you clocked the bushings in the strut rods right btw.otherwise they'll tear.

while that's true, i'm actually referring to the orientation of the bushing in the arm.

I really like the pedal set in your car! So far everything looks good! Cant wait to see the wheels on it. I have been looking at a set for winter wheels on my white 96.
