Looking at a 2000 LS400 with 164k. What should have been done/will need done?
I'm looking at buying a 2000 LS400 WITH navigation and without air suspension with 164K on the odo
Headlights are a little clouded. Body is in good condition. Inside is a 7/10 8/10 with some cleanup needed. No CEL and decent tires
he is asking $5800. I'll give him $5200
What should have been done that is crucial at this age/ miles?
What am I looking at doing in the next 1-3 years? I drive around 10K a year lots of city and aggressively

if you get it for 5200 i would run home and lock that thing up as soon as possible, that's a fantastic price. my brother and i just looked for the last 3 months for one of these for him, and he ended up buying a 2000 with 122k miles for 8k. the thing is absolutely mint and has the TB done along with all the other lexus maintenance. regardless, look at the lexus website for any lexus repair work (look for the service's). at your age you should start looking at any rubber mounts around the car that may need refreshing at this point, like engine mounts suspension mounts etc.. etc.. these can become brittle and crack and will require replacing at some point.

Also have a look at the height sensors particularly the rear one on the passenger side, if broken it will affect the headlight aim.
Usually just a broken rod so not expensive but something to look for.

Almost all front suspension parts are worn out , especially lower front ball joint. My 98 with 150K had joy-stick-like ball joints are over the front ends. I did replace lower ball joints, sway bar end links, sway bar bushing and both inner and outer tie rods. Most LS like that milages will have multiple clunking noise up front. Of course, all motor mounts are squashed already I assumed. See oil leak from power steering oil line and rack and pinion and rear main seal area as well. LS are known for all these little minor issue. Good luck on your LS purchase.
