Default i have a exhaust question

I need a little help, I have a 2000 ls400 and my check engine light is on and the codes read bank 1 catalytic converter. I was told that the bank 1 side is the passenger side, does anyone know where i can get a quality aftermarket converter and could a oxygen sensor be tripping the code instead of the converter really being the problem.

thanks
bstains

it is highly unlikely that you have a bad cat... they should last the life of the car, you probably have something out of range giving you a bad signal.. your air flow, fuel mixture, plugs and everything that feeds your exhaust is suspect. Have a good scan ran on it... you should have some Ky buddies up there that will help you.. how many miles on it??

this. I got the same code after I scraped enough of my exhaust to create a small crack before the o2 sensor.

The check engine light is on again off again. Thanks for the information, ill have the exhaust looked at for a leak. The car has 145000 on it, runs like a champ though.
