Default Weird Pinging/knocking unde slight acceleration

Hey all, i've noticed that whenever I either go from a complete stop or let off the gas and coast for a second or 2 then give it gas I get a weird pinging/knocking noise for 1-3 seconds. I cant figure out what this could be but it seems to be worse whenever its really hot outside or right after start up and the car is still a bit cold. The odd thing is that it only does it under those 2 conditions, whenever I give it a lot of gas it doesn't do it so I'm kind of stumped.

Car is a 98 LS400 with 147K

I always use 91. I thought it might be the plugs but I figured it would do it under hard acceleration as well? I bought it with 134k and have not changed the plugs so who know the last time they were changed. Air filter is new. When you say clean the throttle do you mean the throttle body??

The temp gauge reads the same as it always has so I dont think that would be it, and im not sure if the sensor was bad how it would create this issue. If the knock sensor was bad wouldnt it throw a CEL?

From what I hear, the ecm does not throw a code sometimes. I'd do a scan and see.

I was asking the location of the knock sensor and water temp sensor .

The CTS that causes problems isn't the one that feeds the temp to the dash. They are separate. It has a green connector I think and its up front on top. Easy to find.
