DVOM suggestions?
Greetings to all, I have thorougly enjoyed reading through this forum for several months and am now finally gettign around to making my first post. I promise I searched first! I recently picked up a 93 LS 400 and I've been working on it every day since trying to chase out the electrical gremlins (this car was abused). I don't own a multimeter and the time has come to change that. I just wanted to ensure that what ever model I purchase will be capable of testing all the usual components and sensors. I'm looking at an Actron 7677, it looks pretty capable and reasonably priced. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Mike

that tool will work fine. i personally like using DMMs (digital multi meters) with auto ranging where you don't need to set the range. most meters will measure amperage, capacitance, resistance, and continuity among other features on top of the typical voltage readings. stay away from the meters that have a needle, i.e. harbor freight!

A meter with a needle in most cases is far more accurate than a digital one so I'm not sure what you mean. Several diagnoses need a needle to see rapid fluctuations that wouldnt be seen on a digital.

Harbor Freight DMM is fine for automotive work. I picked up an extra there today for $3 ; manager's special.
If you insist on pro quality that will last a lifetime, go with a Fluke DMM; total overkill, but they are nice.
