Default master keys wont work in trunk.

Hi guys. Did a search and couldnt find anyone with a similar problem. Problem is masterkeys work in ignition and doors. Not in trunk, glovebox or valet lock near hood release. Feels like the keys are not goin to the bottoms of the locks. Any ideas? Do these keys wear out?

Your "master" key is black or gray? Gray, it is a valet.

Did you just get the car? If so, have you ever opened the trunk? Is it possible the car was stolen at some point and and the door locks and igniton were changed? Does the remote work for the doors?

Yep,just got the car. Its possible at some time in its history it may have been stolen and the doors and ignition were changed. I dont know. Put new batteries in the keys and that didnt work. Dreading goin to dealer to have this looked at.
Something else Ive noticed is it looks like the tips of both keys look very worn.
Best way to clean them? I would like to try the cheap fix first. The interior parts around the ignition are in excellent shape so I'm gonna hazard a guess that maybe not stolen repair.

compressed air usually dislodges major debris.

I wouldnt go to the dealer though, you need an automotive locksmith.

The channel is important over the tip wear. If the ridges are all smoothed over, these fresh locks will be looking for that sharp edge to unlock them. Those unused key cylinders will have minimal wear on them so a very worn key is suspect. Snap us a pic so we can see the key wear? That said, my well worn key still opens/closes the locks.

Might want to re-register the fob and see if the master pops the trunk remotely.

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/dig...e-posting.html

UL'ing pictures:

Method 1: Attachments
You can upload a picture directly from your computer to a post as an 'attachment'. Pics must be 800x600 or smaller and 100k or smaller in size.
When you create a new thread or reply to a thread there's 'Additional Options' at the bottom (if you don't see them maybe you did a quick reply in which case you need to click 'Go advanced') and there's a button labeled 'Manage Attachments' and by clicking on that you can upload your picture file.
Method 2: Link a picture stored on another web site
You can upload your pictures to another web site (like photobucket which is very popular), and then put the address (URL) of those pictures into your posts. This is better than attachments because you're not limited to size (although huge pictures over 1200 wide are not welcomed) and you can put the addresses of multiple pictures (vs. 1) in a single post.

After you've uploaded your picture to another web site, get the picture on your screen (maybe in another browser), and copy its address (URL) as follows:
Firefox - right click on the image and select 'Copy Image Location'
Internet Explorer - right click on the image and select 'Properties' and copy the address of the picture by highlighting it and right-click/copy or Ctrl-C.

Method3: Using the Club Lexus Photo Gallery Click here for tutorial

Then in your post/pm browser you can paste the the picture address between img tags like this:

Code:
[img]-pasted address-[/img]
Which shows like:
