Default 1996 Lexus ls400 Question about wheel and OBD2

1 - Will aftermarket 19inch rims off a 1996 supra fit my lexus nicely? They sit flush on the supra.Sorry I dont have specs of those rims.

2- I have a OBD2 reader but it doesnt fit my 1996 Australian Delivered Lexus. I have a round port under the dash next to the steering wheel. Thats where it doesnt fit and I couldnt find an round adaptor on ebay either.
So I moved to the Diagnostic port in the engine bay. I bought a 22 pin to OBD2 adaptor and it fits but the reader does not read it.

Any ideas? Just want to hook up so I have real time data on my reader and naturally read codes later on.

Well 1996 is when the LS400 went to odb2. I am guess you have very early model year 96 made in late 95 so you probably got a odb1 system.

Compliance plate says Manufactured February 1996. The diagnostic port in the engine bay should it work with the OBD2 reader? Maybe my adapator isnt right?

Incorrect. the LS switched to OBDII compliance for the '95 model year. a year AHEAD of the federal mandate.

It is possible that AUS delivered cars were a different system, though HIGHLY unlikely. My old USDM '95 worked fine with my OBDII code readers.

I believe the '95 and '96 had 2 ports under the dash, the OBDII port may be further down/forwards than the port you mentioned.

Thanks Pure drifter. Yeah the round port under the dash looks like another diagnostic port.
I will look properly for an OBD2 port.

I too doubt Australian delivered cars are different. We seem to get the exact same cars as Japan do here.
